Stay Relevant Through Continuous Learning, NIPR Kogi Chairman Tells PR Practitioners

The Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kogi State Chapter, Ismaila Isah, has urged public relations practitioners to prioritise continuous learning and capacity building to remain relevant in the rapidly evolving communications industry.

Isah made the call at the NIPR Third Quarter Induction Ceremony for 2026 held in Abuja, where 310 new members were formally admitted into the professional body.

Congratulating the inductees, Isah urged them to uphold the ethics and ideals of the public relations profession while taking advantage of the institute’s platforms and resources to advance their careers.

He advised the new members to remain focused, broaden their intellectual capacity and actively participate in mentorship, professional development and networking opportunities offered by the institute.

According to him, the NIPR has a rich pool of intellectual resources and experienced professionals from whom members can learn to deepen their knowledge and strengthen their competence in strategic communication and public relations practice.

Isah stressed that the changing communications landscape requires practitioners to continually update their knowledge and skills to effectively respond to emerging trends and challenges.

As part of efforts to encourage professional development, the Kogi State NIPR chairman presented copies of Aren’t We All PR People?, a book written by seasoned public relations practitioner Ahmed Balarabe, to the inductees.

He encouraged the new members to participate actively in the institute’s programmes, stressing that professional growth requires continuous engagement, learning and interaction with experienced practitioners.

Also speaking, the President and Chairman of the NIPR Governing Council, Dr Ike Neliaku, urged the inductees to see themselves as important stakeholders in nation-building and national integration.

Neliaku said that despite the challenges confronting the country, Nigeria remained richly endowed with cultural diversity, human capital and abundant natural resources.

He charged the inductees to uphold professional ethics, build strong networks and deploy their communication skills towards promoting national unity, development and a positive image of Nigeria.

The NIPR president also reminded the new members of their responsibility to practise public relations professionally and contribute meaningfully to efforts aimed at strengthening trust and understanding across society.

A total of 310 new members were inducted into the NIPR during the Third Quarter 2026 Induction Ceremony in Abuja.
