Super Falcons Defender Rofiat Imuran Joins Aston Villa

Nigerian football continues to make its mark on the global stage, with Super Falcons defender Rofiat Imuran securing a move to Aston Villa Women ahead of the 2026/27 season.

‎The 22-year-old full-back joins the English club from London City Lionesses, adding another chapter to a career that began with Stade de Reims in France.

‎Her move to Villa also strengthens the growing presence of Nigerian talent in top-level European women’s football.

‎Imuran, who made her senior Nigeria debut in 2022, has already represented the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

‎Now taking another step forward in England, she says the move is about more than simply joining a new club.

‎“I’m very excited to be here, and I want to achieve a lot of things,” said Imuran. “It’s a big club with a lot of history, and it has big ambitions, and I want to be part of it.”

‎Her arrival at Aston Villa is expected to strengthen Natalia Arroyo’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

‎Imuran’s progression offers another example of Nigerian women footballers earning opportunities at the highest levels of the game.
