BREAKING: Ibrahim Gusau resigns as NFF president

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has resigned from office.

‎Gusau announced his resignation on Thursday at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja.

‎The development followed days of reports that Gusau and several members of the federation’s Executive Committee had resigned, although the reports had initially awaited official confirmation.

‎Gusau eventually confirmed his resignation during a press conference with journalists in Abuja.

‎His departure comes against the backdrop of mounting criticism from Nigerians and football administrators over the direction of the country’s football under his leadership.

‎The NFF administration had faced increasing scrutiny following a series of disappointing results involving Nigeria’s national teams, including the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

‎The resignation now throws the leadership and immediate future of the country’s football administration into fresh uncertainty.

‎Details later…
