Former National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA, Halima Shehu, has cried out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over what she described as her continued persecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
She made this known in a viral video released on Saturday by ADBN.
In the video, the former NSIPA boss was seen in tears, seeking the President’s intervention in her ordeal with the EFCC following her suspension in January 2024 over the alleged diversion of N17 billion in NSIPA funds.
The embattled Shehu also demanded the release of the anti-graft agency’s investigative report.
“The prolonged silence has left me in a state of uncertainty, hardship, and reputational injury. My only prayer is for closure and the immediate release of the investigative report so that the truth can be known.
“Baba, I have been in pain ever since I publicly declared my support for you. I appeal to you as my political father to bring closure to this case. If this message gets to you, this is your daughter, Halima Shehu.”
Recall that Halima Shehu was suspended as the National Coordinator of NSIPA in January 2024.
She was later detained by the EFCC.
News reports that her removal from NSIPA was linked to Betta Edu, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, who was also suspended in January 2024 over the alleged diversion of N585.189 million into a private account.
However, nearly three years later, the EFCC has yet to make public the investigative reports on Betta Edu and Halima Shehu.
