Oyo abduction: Eight kidnappers in DSS custody, others neutralised – Presidency

‎The presidency has revealed that some of the kidnappers who abducted pupils and teachers from schools in Orire, Oyo State, were neutralised by security operatives.

‎Earlier it was reported that the victims were rescued on Friday after spending 56 days in captivity.

‎Confirming the development, President Bola Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, said in a post on X that while some of the abductors were killed, eight were arrested and are now in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

‎He wrote: “In the course of the rescue operation, eight of the kidnappers were arrested and are now in DSS custody, while some of them were neutralised.

‎“There was no quid pro quo in the rescue, as one of the terrorists, a kingpin whose release the kidnappers demanded, is being prosecuted for his atrocities.

‎“The security agencies will give a full account soon.”
