Group Demands Gbajabiamila’s Resignation Over Corruptible Allegations, Rejects Onanuga’s Denial

A support group of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Grassroots Mobilization Network, GMN, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to resign his appointment forthwith and face a proper investigation over corruptible allegations rocking the Presidency.

The GMN also dismissed the defence contained in a statement signed by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, describing it as a litany of bold-faced lies.

The group further stated that arising from the scam associated with the Presidency, Nigerians should step up their determination to reject Tinubu in the presidential election scheduled to hold next year.

In a statement issued by its Deputy Secretary, Abubakar Sadiq Lwafu, in Abuja at the weekend, the group said; “Gbajabiamila has to resign or be directed by the President to resign to allow a full and independent investigation into allegations of corruption and the activities of a purported fake agency, as well as saving the Presidential Villa from further opprobrium.

“The honourable thing to do is for Femi Gbajabiamila to resign. Nigeria is not yet a banana republic. Too many scandals have ravaged this government, but this one should not be swept under the carpet, the statement continued.

He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has failed woefully and should not continue to take Nigerians for granted.

He further alleged that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi was only being sacrificed, adding that from all the documents and videos available in the public space, it is deductible that he was duly appointed and transacting government business.

He further alleged that the government allocated an office to him in the Federal Secretariat with full staff who were drawing salaries from government coffers up to the Central Bank of Nigeria.”

He added that without a proper investigation panel headed by wellmeaning Nigerians of high integrity, nobody will accept the Presidency’s denial, and urged Nigerians to vote out the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027 and vote in the African Democratic Congress, ADC.”

Lwafu was responding to a Friday statement by Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga.

Mr. Onanuga had dismissed reports describing Adeniyi Adeyemi as Director General of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council and the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, as fake.
But Lwafu stated that how come the man got appointment letter, gazette notice, or budgetary allocation that was published.

“The denial by the President’s Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, that the Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, is fake is unacceptable, Lwafu said. “Nigerians need the truth and nothing but the truth.”

GMN said it will petition the EFCC and ICPC this week to verify the existence of the agency in question and the status of the two councils. The group is also requesting the publication of the councils’ legal instruments, the DG’s appointment letter, gazette, and budgetary records.
