‘I am ashamed’ – Joe Igbokwe reacts to backlash on Remi Tinubu’s viral advice

‎Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, says he is filled with shame following the attacks on President Bola Tinubu’s wife, Remi Tinubu by netizens over a recent viral video.

‎News reports that the social media has been flooded with reactions from Nigerian youths venting their anger following the First Lady’s controversial petty trade advice in the viral footage.

‎Remi had at an event advised Nigerians to set up small and medium businesses, stating that frying Akara for commercial purposes is not difficult.

‎The advice, however, didn’t go down well with netizens, who took to their social media handles to blast the First Lady for failing to create jobs for the unemployed youths.

‎Reacting to the backlash, Igbokwe in a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, slammed the netizens, wondering why the First Lady is being attacked over honest advice.

‎He wrote, “This generation frightens me to the marrows. An honest advice HE Oluremi Tinubu gave to young Nigerians on how to help themselves has become a tool to abuse and to pour invectives.

‎“Social Media has become a tool to unleash scurrilous drivels even when the truth is spoken.

‎“We will learn las las. See the empty heads and headless mobs dancing naked in the public space left and right. Awon werey everywhere.  Shame has enveloped me”.
