Tension as Fubara’s brother declares Rivers governorship bid under NDC

‎Fubara noted promised to serve only one term if elected in the state.

‎Speaking ahead of the party’s primary election, Fubara described himself as a “ready, competent and energetic” candidate committed to restoring peace, stability, and economic prosperity in Rivers State.

‎According to him, the state has suffered politically and economically in recent times.

‎“We have lost opportunities. We have lost investments. We have lost our dignity as a people. We have lost our pride as Rivers people,” he said.

‎He further called for what he described as a collective “uprising” across political and ethnic lines to reclaim the state’s lost glory.

‎“Today, we see a Rivers State that is distressed. Today, we see a Rivers State that is shortchanged. Today, we see a Rivers State that seems almost like a conquered state. No, we are not a conquered people,” he stated.

‎Fubara also pledged to preserve the state’s zoning arrangement, insisting that the Rivers South-East Senatorial District must complete its eight-year tenure.

‎“We have vowed to you to keep the peaceful existence of the political rotation of Rivers State according to our founding fathers by our districts,” he said.

‎He added, “I have vowed to do just a four-year one-term tenure to bring the expected prosperity and development in Rivers State.”

‎The aspirant argued that political influence should not be measured by financial strength, maintaining that popular support remained his greatest advantage.

‎Recall that Governor Sim Fubara recently withdrew from the APC governorship primaries, citing a move to stabilise the state.
