Buhari’s son wins APC House of Reps primary in landslide victory with 5,849 votes

‎Late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf Buhari, has picked the All Progressives Congress (APC), ticket for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency.

‎Buhari polled 5,849 votes to defeat Auwal Lawal Daura, who got 21 votes.

‎

‎As a result of the development, Yusuf Buhari has emerged as the APC candidate for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat for the 2027 general elections.

‎

‎Meanwhile, Daura, the leading challenger to Yusuf Buhari for the APC ticket in the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency, has raised concerns over the conduct of the party’s ongoing primaries.

‎

‎He alleged that the exercise did not follow party guidelines and questioned the credibility of those involved in the voting process.

‎

‎“I am not satisfied with what happened today. Evidence is everywhere showing the injustice that was done. The manner of counting was highly dubious, and most of the people counted did not even have party membership cards,” he stated.

‎

‎He also explained that his participation in the contest was driven by the need to ensure fairness, insisting that the call for primaries reflected the will of party members.

‎

‎“When I started this political movement, I made it clear that it was about the will of the people. When a consensus candidate was said to have been adopted, the people said no, they wanted us to go for primaries. Therefore, my insistence was not a sign of disrespect, but rather a demonstration of our support for justice and fairness,” he said.
