Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, on Wednesday approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council, ending the tenure of commissioners who have served in his cabinet over the past two and a half years.
โThe decision was announced during a press briefing by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Ibrahim Njodi, shortly after the 53rd session of the council.
โProf Njodi added, โYahaya has directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to permanent secretaries on or before Friday, April 10, 2026, to ensure continuity in governance and administrative stability.โ
โHe further disclosed that during the session, the governor conveyed his gratitude to the outgoing council members for their dedication, loyalty, and sacrifices in advancing the stateโs development agenda, acknowledging their roles in implementing policies and programmes that have impacted citizens.
โHe added that the governor wished them well in their future pursuits and expressed confidence that many would continue to contribute to the development of Gombe State and the country.
โThe SSG also announced that the governor directed all political appointees aspiring to contest in 2027 to resign their appointments by Friday, April 10.
โโIn a related development, the governor has also directed all political appointees, including aides and political office holders aspiring to contest in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, to resign their appointments on or before Friday, April 10, 2026,โ he said.
โThe directive, according to him, is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and compliance with electoral laws and guidelines.
โDuring the valedictory session, council members reviewed their performance since inauguration and assessed their contributions to the administrationโs development agenda, noting achievements across key sectors of the stateโs economy.
โAt the end of the session, the council passed a vote of confidence in the governor, commending his leadership style, policy direction, and commitment to the stateโs development
โThey noted that under his leadership, the state recorded progress in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic reforms.

โThe outgoing commissioners also expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve, describing their tenure as impactful and pledging continued support for his vision.

โDuring the briefing, Njodi also conveyed the governorโs appreciation to the media for their role in promoting government policies and programmes.
