We Saved Nigeria from Bankruptcy, Economy Getting Better — Tinubu Tells Nigerians

‎President Bola Tinubu on Monday said his administration has rescued Nigeria from the brink of bankruptcy, assuring citizens that the country’s economy is gradually improving.

‎Tinubu made the remark while hosting religious and traditional leaders at an interfaith breaking of fast held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

‎Speaking during the gathering, the President said his government met a difficult economic situation on assumption of office but had taken decisive steps to stabilise public finances and prevent the country from sliding into financial collapse.

‎“We have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy. It was very daunting and challenging when we took over. But today I can say with pride and joy that we have survived,” he said.

‎Tinubu noted that the economy had begun to show signs of recovery, adding that pensioners were gradually getting relief.

‎“I can report that the economy has turned the corner. It is getting better. Pensioners are gradually getting relief,” the President stated.

‎He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the country, promising to remain committed to discharging his responsibilities faithfully.

‎“I am just grateful, one person among millions, that I have been given the opportunity to serve. All I can do is promise that I will continue to be faithful in discharging my duty,” he added.

‎Tinubu further stated that state governments were now in a stronger financial position and were no longer struggling to borrow funds from banks to pay workers’ salaries.

‎The President urged Nigerians not to lose hope, assuring them that his administration remained focused on strengthening the economy and promoting prosperity.

‎He also reiterated his commitment to increasing investments in key sectors such as agriculture and education to support sustainable economic growth.

‎During the event, Tinubu acknowledged the important roles played by religious and traditional leaders in promoting peace, stability and moral guidance in their communities.
