Bangladesh Will Not Go to India for T20 World Cup: Youth and Sports Adviser

By Mahbub Hasan Tutul, Dhaka Correspondent

Bangladesh: Bangladesh government’s Youth and Sports Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul has once again reaffirmed the firm decision not to participate in the World Cup in India.

The sports adviser made this statement on Thursday after meeting with the players included in the World Cup squad.

He mentioned that the ICC did not act fairly by not accommodating Bangladesh’s request to change the venue. However, it is expected that they will act justly. Bangladesh has not given up hope yet. The International Cricket Council (ICC), taking security concerns into consideration, is expected to provide Bangladesh the opportunity to play the World Cup in Sri Lanka. With this optimism, Bangladesh is waiting, the adviser added.

Regarding discussions with the players, Asif Nazrul said that the purpose of the meeting was to explain why the Bangladesh government decided not to participate in the World Cup in India. “I feel they have understood our position,” he added.
