Gombe governor gifts 16 new SUVS to judges, Sharia court Khadis

Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, on Friday, distributed 16 brand new cars to judicial officers as part of efforts to improve service delivery in the judicial arm of government.

The vehicles comprised two 2025 model Toyota SUVs and 14 GAC SUVs, distributed to the Chief Judge, High Court Judges, the Grand Khadi, and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.

Mr Yahaya, represented by his deputy, Manassah Jatau, at the occasion in Gombe, said the move was to enhance the administration of justice in the state.

According to him, the gesture underscored his administration’s commitment to strengthening judicial operations and ensuring that judicial officers were comfortable carrying out their duties.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the vehicles responsibly and strictly for the purposes for which they were provided, to strengthen service delivery within the judiciary.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to consistently supporting the judicial sector to boost productivity.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zubairu Umar, praised Governor Yahaya for honouring his promises to the judiciary, noting several interventions, including the construction of a modern High Court complex.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Magaji, revealed that the vehicles were purchased for over N2 billion.

He explained that the gesture was aimed at reinforcing judicial autonomy and ensuring that judicial officers carry out their duties effectively.

He added that the last major vehicle purchase for the judiciary took place a decade ago.

In their remarks, the Chief Registrar of the Gombe State High Court, Bello Sherif; the Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Ibrahim Jibrin; and the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (Gombe chapter), Alhassan Mu’azu, applauded the government for its sustained support to the judiciary.
