Precisely in October when the Nasarawa State cabinet was dissolved, spearing the Attorney General and commissioner for justice, there were raising tension and lobbying from politicians in the state who desired that they be appointed as replacement of the formers.
This anxieties and expectations have however chilled down but at a point speculation saturated the state again that the governor was going to submit the names of his nominees to the state assembly on a particular day,but the state lawmakers on that day as was belief to be the time they will sit and present the governor’s nominees, shutdown the assembly for upgrades of facilities in the chamber.
The assembly members under the ongoing restructuring of the chamber however had been meeting at the Ministry for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy affairs.
Since then and untill the governor sent instead names of his special adviser and Senior Special Assistants, who had also since been screened and sworn in,this again brought hope on some of the politicians who had earlier lobbied to be nominated as commissioners, believing that it will not be long from the swearing in of adviser to have names presented to the assembly, but grew cold feet.
The Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, happens to be a calm man who is not easily distracted for reasons of emphaty, but work within his conscience, nevertheless,he seems to be taking his time , especially on who to be appointed this time around.
Pundits believe that at the time he most have been done with his decision about who becomes the commissioners, majority are going to come from the academia, technocrats and not the usual political jobbers.
The pundit however added that those that will be lucky for the appointment as in the body language of the governor will be expert in their fields, who can factor in their wealth of knowledge in line with the policy drive of the governor, who has always laid emphasis on growing the various economic sectors of the state.
This notwithstanding the governor’s tenacity for good governance and accountability, it is widely speculated that Engineer Abdullahi Sule, will before the end of the year have his commissioners sworn in after their screening by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly members by December.
In some quotes,it is also said that governor Sule may call back a few out of those he earlier relief of their appointment and also consider a few local government chairmen, that ended their tenure a few months ago.
Another point which has saturated the state, was that some of the former commissioners have become permanent visitors to lafia the state capital, meeting with stakeholders who are closed to the governor for possible consideration.
