The Medical Director and Chief Executive,Federal Medical Center Keffi,Dr Yahaya Baba Adamu,has disclosed that all the resource contractors had been paid their Eight months salaries arears owed them from February to September 2021.
Dr Yahaya made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with METRO DAILY NIGERIA in his office at keffi local government area of, Nasarawa state,on Thursday.
He said ” We have just paid. our resource contractors who were owed from Feb to September,2021 and that includes all the security outfits,the cleaning outfits and those doing laundry services in the hospital.
” Before now,funds were not made available,but we thank God , government has released some monies to us that enables us to pay them all their salary arears.We are hoping that we will funds so as to settle all outstandings” He posited.
The Medical Director further explained that the management team of FMC keffi have always embarked on constructive engagement with all the existing union leaders in the hospital and that it has paid off, against what was obtained in the past where strikes we’re almost a yearly event.
” Except such strike action is a directive at the national levels of the Union,but for internal strike actions,it is becoming an issue in the past” He said.
Dr Yahaya maintained that with the continuous engagement of the union leaders in FMC keffi under the current management, staff have had a sense of relief” There are occasions where we meet with the staff directly and we allow them bear their minds on areas they have as issues to be tackled So we have a better understanding between staff,the union leaders” Dr Adamu alluded.
According to him, with respect to staff welfare, management have been doing their best in the last three years and a half that he took over as the medical director of FMC keffi,and have also made sure that most of the staff welfare within the capacity and ability of the management team was not overlooked..He used the opportunity to thank the governing board chairman and his members,the Federal Ministry of Health, management team and staff of the FMC keffi for their commitment and dedication to work, urging them to put more efforts for better service delivery.
