Why I completed Lamido’s N88bn road projects – Gov. Badaru replies critics

The Jigawa State Government says it had expended over N88.5b on the completion of inherited road projects from the previous administration of Sule Lamido.

The state Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Transport, Aminu Usman revealed this while responding to questions from newsmen at a media engagement in Dutse.

This is coming amid criticism from the oppositions and political opponents of Governor Muhammad Abubakar who allege that he promised to complete all the ongoing road projects worth over N88.4 billion before leaving office.

He explained that the present administration had inherited 42 road projects with a total length of 716.5 kilometres across the state.

He noted that, out of N 88.4 billion total costs of projects, the past administration paid the total sum of N32.5 billion to contractors handling the projects leaving behind N55.8 billion balance to APC’s administration.

“When we assumed office in 2015, the Governor secured a discount ofN7.58 billion from the initial contract amount”

“Today we are proud to tell the world that we have completed all these inherited projects and paid all the companies the remaining balance of over N48.3b without owing contractors a single kobo” he revealed.
