The Area Comptroller of the Kano, Jigawa Customs Service, Suleman Pai Umar on Thursday, charged the newly Promoted Officers of the Command numbering about 71 to dedicate themselves more to the service for better results and always conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Pai made the call during a ceremony at the Kano Headquarters to decorate and felicitate with the newly Promoted Officers who were joined by their family members and friends.
While admonishing them on what is expected of them, Umar stated that “Promotion is not a right but a privilege, you are not better than your colleagues whom couldn’t make the promotion list this time.
You are familiar with the line that says to whom more is given much is expected.
Your various new ranks comes with more responsibilities and as always you are expected to meet up with these demands and must not forget to carry out your duties according to standards and must portray the Service in a good light at all times”.
The Comptroller also encouraged those who were not Promoted not to be discouraged as God’s time always remains the best tasking them to remain committted to their duties with the hope of getting Promoted soon.
” I want those of you who did not get the promotion to see this as an avenue to work harder and not be discouraged.
I have been informed that arrangements are almost concluded for another promotional exams which means soon many of you will catch up with those promoted and even pass some as the case maybe”, he said.
According to him, the Customs Service has recorded tremendous progress as gone were the days when an officer stays for almost 7 years without promotion which has now reduced to few years between 3 to 4 years at most.
He assured them of his support and emphasized that the Customs are always on ground to discharge their duties in accordance to the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Amongst the newly Promoted Officers include, the Command’s Public Relation Officer, Abdullahi Abiola Lagos how was Promoted from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASC I) to Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC).
The occasion was conducted under a cheerful atmosphere as both officers, family members and friends expressed joy.
