Kano poised to continue to execute viable projects to boost tourism sector-Karaye

The Kano state Commissioner for Tourism and Culture Alh Ibrahim Ahmed Karaye (Madakin Karaye) says Kano state government in its desire to boost and repositioning the tourism sector has introduced quite a number of policies and programmes aim at boosting tourism activities in the state, through the newly created ministry the first of its kind to coordinate and manage the affairs of tourism in the state, provision of motorcycle to game rangers other notable development according to the commissioner is the restocking of Kano zoo with different categories of animals species and securing of Permanent office accommodation for Nigerian tourism development corporation North – West zonal office among other achievements.

The Commissioner who stated this today at the occasion of world tourism day, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry of Tourism and Culture Alh Zakari Sadiq Buda

He pointed out that, the theme for this year’s world tourism day is “Tourism for inclusive growth”
He maintained that the focus of this world tourism day 2021 on inclusive growth is a deliberate attempt aimed at Providing opportunity for stakeholders to look beyond tourism statistics and acknowledged that behind every number, there is a person. That is why United nations member states are expected to celebrate the day to ensure that no body is left behind as the world begins to open up again and look to the future.

Also speaking the managing director state tourism board Alhaji Yusuf Ibrahim Lajawa stressed that Kano has been at the forefront in the local celebration due to its unique nature as an ancient and cosmopolitan city endowed with both natural and artificial tourism potential, couple with an organized and leading state tourism board in the country, he said.

In his message on this occasion the United nation world tourism organisation secretary – General (UNWTO) whose the Deputy zonal coordinator NTDC Yakubu Adamu read out his speech said it is a pledge that is both timely and necessary, the pouse in international travel caused by the pandemic has made clear the relevance of tourism to our societies, he added.

Similarly awards of recognition for some important personalities who contributed immensely and excel in the tourism activities has been awarded.
