Nasarawa LG Election: Commissioner, Ex-Speaker, Okpoku, hail Gov. Sule’s take on Consensus

Critical stakeholders of Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa state ,have backed the governor’s decision which suggested that the APC in the state work hard towards producing consensus candidates for all its elections in order to minimized cost and crisis in the party.

The honorable Commissioner of Education,Hajiya Fati Sabo,a former speaker of the state assembly,Honorable Musa Ahmed and the serving member representing Udege/Loko constituency,Okpoku Okpoku,in their separate assertions supported the governor,Engineer Abdullahi Sule and the leadership of the All Progressive Congress for being pragmatic,saying it was the best way forward in achieving a rancour free election in the state.

They made their position known to journalists,during the Sallah festival in their country home,Nasarawa LGA in the state.

The Education of Commissioner,Hajiya Fati Sabo,while congratulating Muslims for witnessing a peaceful Eid kabir celebration,said it is with all sense of gratitude to God who made it possible for the state to have a leader in the state as Engineer Abdullahi Sule,who according to her, is putting in his best to change the narratives in the state.

” My appeal to all citizens of the state is that we continue to support the governor,as the Almighty Allah has saddle on him the responsibility of leadership ,so that he succeed” Fati said.

The commissioner took advantage of the period to call on all those who have vested interested to contest election in the forthcoming local government polls,to note that leadership comes from God and that they should have it at the background of their minds that it is one person that will emerge as winner.

On his part, the former speaker of the house of assembly Honourable Musa Ahmed,hail the decision by the leadership of the party,which seek that consensus candidates be produce in order to void certain acrimony.

He said in Nasarawa LGA ,there are 3 districts,which he named as Nasarawa, Udege and Loko districts,he revealed that before now,there were 6 aspirants from Nasarawa district,with 3 to 4 aspirants from Udege,while Loko,had none,but according him, few days back,Nasarawa district came up with a strategy towards reducing tension,as far as election is concern.

” So we gathered all the aspirants and talked to them and at the end,we had all the aspirants from nasarawa district who agreed to step down,because there was a request from the Governor ,that this aspiration should be move to Udege district.

” Having the strategy on ground backed by the step taken, we again met with the governor,who gave us Three conditions,that he doesn’t want election,therefore a consensus candidate be produced and that in the event where having a candidate is not possible ,there should be at least 3 aspirants,which he will choose one out of the Three,to avoid rancour,which we all had agreed with that arrangement” Ahmed said.

Also, the current member representing Udege/Loko constituency,Honorable Okpoku Okpoku,first, hailed the governor of the state Engineer Abdullahi Sule,for ensuring that there is peace and the restoration of security in his constituency.

Okpoku,also commended the decision of the Governor which suggested that a consensus candidate from udege be produced,stating that stakeholders from Nasarawa local government area had in line with the wisdom of the governor and the party are working hard towards meeting up with that requirement from the governor and the party.

” You know this is not going to come easy but we are applying wisdom ,geared towards ensuring that there is high reduction in inter party affairs .so internally, we should be able to overcome certain issues ,for a credible election”He added.

Okpoku further explained that already,about 60 to 70% of the prevailing misunderstanding had been smoothly tackled and that it is possible to achieve 90% before the election.
