Senator representing Nasarawa west senatorial district at the national assembly,senator,Dr Abdullahi Adamu has empowered over 300 farmers with farm implements,across his constituency.
The gesture as according to the former governor of the state was inline with the current administration’s drive of president Muhammadu Buhari, whose policy for economic boom of the country is geared towards boosting the agricultural sector for food security and food sufficiency.
To this end senator Abdullahi Adamu,distributed water pumping machines,grains grinders, spraying machines and fertilizers on Saturday,at the palace of the Emir of Keffi.
The beneficiaries included all the first class chiefs and emirs of the 5 LGAs, comprising,Toto, Nasarawa,Keffi,karu and Kokona.
Others are stakeholders, politicians and army farmers association of 177 Bridget Keffi.
Senator Adamu while addressing his constituents during the distribution ceremony ,posited that the gesture was targeted at boosting farmers effort on food production,as part of his commitment to supporting the federal government desire for food security and sufficiency in the country.
“This has no political,religion inclination as food production is not tide to political or religion exercise,so all farmers be you Muslim or christian,APC or PDP deserved encouragement and support,in order to boost Agriculture and ensure a robust economy advancement of our country” senator Adamu said.
Commending the initiative of the senator,the Emir of Keffi, Dr Shehu Chindo Yamusa 11 ,while thanking the senator and former governor of the state,Dr Abdullahi Adamu,urged the beneficiaries to make best use of the implement ,as it is capable of increasing their farming activities.
He said, the lawmaker has demonstrated that he is mindful of the farmers plight and has concern for the development of agriculture ,which is a major source of livelihood.
“Let me also impressed on you all that this gesture is not for political gains as many most have thought,but a demonstration of love and a drive for economic development,which the current administration of Mr President reintroduced for diversification on a mono Economy which depended so much in oil,as our source of revenue generation in the country.
“I therefore urged you to make best use of the implement and ensure agricultural production which has immediate benefit on you the farmers” He stated.
Contributing, the APC state caretaker committee chairman,Dr John W.Mamman,thank the senator for considering the empowerment of farmers from his constituency.
Dr Mamman added that any gesture focused towards boosting agriculture in the country is a good as sustaining the lives of millions of Nigerians.
“What we have all witness today being the magnamity of our father,the former governor and now senator representing our constituency,goes beyond politics,once you boost Agriculture by any way and means,you have contributed in ensuring that citizens wellbeing is secured” He added.
