Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State,has directed the 13 local government areas Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) to ensure that they pay the outgone chairmen their outstanding one month salary.
The Governor also directed that the DPMs save money towards offsetting salaries of workers in their various councils.
Governor Sule,at a first meeting with the DPMs ,who recently took over the management of LGs in the state from elected chairmen whose tenure expired on 28/5/2021,he tasked them on the need to save money with a view to offsetting outstanding monthly salaries of workers as well as pensions.
Engineer Sule’ laid the task on Monday in government house Lafia,urging the DPMs to see their new positions as an opportunity to contribute their quota in the development of the local government areas,he specifically appealed to them to imbibe the culture of savings in order for them to be able to pay salaries and pensions owed at the Councils.
He noted that being integral to the LGs systems,DPMs are quite aware of the development within the system urging them to impact positively in their new levels, stressing that his administration remains fair and just to the DPMs ,who were previously suspended from office ,but later reinstated.
Governor Sule,charged them to remain focus ,while he also cautioned them against victimizing the out gone chairmen and their Appointees.
For the local governments owing only one month the governor charge them to use their savings to embark on projects in their community,in collaboration with the Local Government Services Commission and the state Ministry for Local Government, Community Development and chieftaincy Affairs.
