16,000 SMEs Have Benefited Under Kano Bussiness Clinic, says Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has announced that the state government has so far enlisted about 16, 000 beneficiaries under its Business Clinic programme.

The clinic involves among other things training on basic registration formalities, tax advisories, loans and free bank account opening and it is coordinated by the office of the Director-General, Cottage Industries and Street hawking.

According to the Director – General, Media and Public Relations, Government House, Kano, Ameen K. Yassar, the Governor announced this while receiving the Post-master General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of NIPOST, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, in Kano.

He stated that the capacity building initiative targeted street hawkers, traders and owners of small and medium scale businesses.

“The aim is to ensure the sustainability of the small business and to ensure their gradual transformation into viable economic endeavors”, the governor stated.

The governor said Kano has many emerging business endeavors and the state government is willing to work the organizations and the organized private sector to revamp the state’s economy.

He expressed appreciation to the management NIPOST for indicating interest to adopting some monuments in Kano, for use on commemorative stamps, assuring that his administration would give the necessary cooperation to agency to implement the concept.

Earlier, the Post-master General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of NIPOST, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, told the governor that the agency was unbundling into two companies and had decided to make Kano the hub of its e-commerce, saying the state had impressive business opportunities.

Adewusi hoped the state government would give his agency logistic and other support to enable it serve the people better.
