NSCDC Needs Reform Too

As the agitation to end police brutality take center stage across the major cities in Nigeria, which is also gaining attention from the president and the top police hierarchy on the need to #ENDSARS and end the impunity in the Nigeria police force. There is need for government to look inward to the internal security apparatus in the country.

For the purpose of this writeup,I shall focus on-NSCDC(NIGERIA SECURITY AND CIVIL DEFENCE CORPS).They need to be reform to meet international best practices.More attention should be given to this young security agency by the government on capacity building, training and retraining of officers and men of the corps and increased salary packaged so as to compliment the police to fight criminals in our society.

The leadership of this organization is doing his best especially in the area of settlement of farmers and herders crisis which led to the introduction and formation of argro rangers unit in all the formation. However, more is expected from the leadership of Gana Mohammed as many officers I interacted with complain of unpaid arrears that have been appropriated for and delayed in promotion as at when due. This issue if well managed couple with reasonable attention from the government on strengthening internal security can go a long way to bolster the morale of officers for effective service delivery.
