Medicine vendors in Kano state have been called upon to always respect and abide by the laid down guidelines governing medicine business in the state.
The call was made by the Director Pharmaceutical Service of Hospitals Management Board, Pharm. Ghali Sule while receiving the newly elected leaders of the Association of Kano Patent Medicine Vendors in Board’s headquarters, Wednesday.
Pharm. Ghali noted that health matters is a collaborative responsibilities between government and private sector with aim to salvage lives of the people as government alone cannot bear its total burden due to its vastness.
He further said that health sector is not a one side affair, it is rather a composition of various professionals whose service is of great paramount that can never be ignored in steering affairs of the teeming populace that will ultimately pave way of having a healthier nation.
“Whoever finds himself in this sector has to put materialism off his mind. He should always bear in the back of his mind that it is a service to humanity, hence should do every possible to see lives of the people are pleasingly saved.
If the mission goes this way, we will then ensure that we do all we could to discharge our responsibilities with sole purpose of seeking rewards in the hereafter”, Pharm. Ghali pointed out.
The Director then charged the newly elected leaders of the association to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed on them and ensure their members are acting in accordance with the existing laws as well as invigorate them to give maximum cooperation to the state government so as to achieve the set objectives.
“Government and private sector in health matters are interwoven. They have to work together as both have mutual role to play. I would like to call on you to cooperate with the government in order to sanitise the state against unwanted drugs that may harm lives of people in our dear state”, the Director pleaded.
Earlier, the newly elected Chairman of the Association, Muhammad Nura Abubakar, said they were at the Board to introduce themselves and to tender their unalloyed loyalty to state government in its unwavering efforts of progressing health sector to greater heights.
Muhammad Abubakar enjoined their members to conform with the standard guidelines laid down by the government for medicine business as it is the most simpler way of sanitizing and freeing the business against bad eggs.
The Chairman assured their members that if this noble objective is achieved, undoubtedly the new leadership would not take a softer line in protecting and safeguarding their legitimate interests.
Lastly, he thanked the Ganduje led administration for allowing them to conduct their business without hindrance and intimidation, assuring that they are ready to accept meaningful advises from government and all stakeholders and pledged their total support and allegiance should the need arises.
