The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the identity of a 42 year old man whose corpse was found in a bush near Chanso Village in Gindiri District of Mangu LGA of the State.
The Command however said no arrest has been made in connection with the incident.
The Police through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev, disclosed that, “On 16th November, 2019, at about 06:30 hours, the Plateau State Police Command received an information that a corpse was seen at a bush near Chanso Village in Gindiri District of Mangu LGA.
“The Police upon the receipt of the information, detectives of the Command were immediately mobilized to the scene of crime. On arrival, one Alh. Hashimu Mantu aged 42year was found motionless.
“He was rushed to JUTH in Gindiri and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
Tyopev explained that, “At the scene of crime, the victim’s handset and a stick were recovered.
“The corpse was thereafter released to the family for burial in accordance with the Islamic rites.
According to the Police Spokesman, “No suspect arrested yet but efforts are ongoing to arrest the suspect or suspects to face the full wrath of the law”.
The Command however, calls on members of the public to volunteer information so as to get the perpetrators of the dastardly act in good time.
