The outspoken cleric said this in reaction to President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval of an increase in fine relating to hate speeches.

According to him, what Buhari should address is lies being peddled as news not hate speech.

He added that, “The N5m fine on hate speech will henceforth ensure that every voiced opinion that appears confrontational to government will be tagged hate speech.”

Apostle Suleman on his Twitter page wrote: “What should be addressed is fake news, lies being peddled, unverified stories, that way there will be media-sanity.

“But with this N5m fine on hate speech, every voiced opinion that appears confrontational to government will be tagged ‘hate speech.”‘

“Leaders always remember you won’t be in power forever.

“Lord visit Nigeria with your mercy, take out everyone against our wellbeing, whether among the rulers or the opposition.

“Give us people who will take care of the poor, give jobs and make Nigeria a place no one will be willing to leave.

“We know it will come to pass in Jesus name.”

According to report, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, in Abuja while inaugurating the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Reform Implementation Committee, said Buhari had approved the upward review of fines from N500,000 to N5 million for breaches relating to hate speeches, inciting comments and indecency.

According to him: “Following deliberations at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) of March 27th 2019, on the unprofessional and unethical conduct of some broadcast stations, especially before and during the last general elections, President Muhammadu Buhari directed me to institute an inquiry into the conduct of the stations and report back to the Council.”
