An Obiaruku Magistrate Court in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta state has sentenced to for six years one Gilbert Chucks Ejede, a supervisory councilor in the area for obtaining under false pretence the sum of N2.7 million from one Chief Dele Joseph Omenogor .
Delivering judgement on Friday in Obiaruku magisterial Court, the Chief magistrate, Chucks Mbachi said that the evidence before the court proved beyond reasonable doubts that the accused person defrauded Chief Omenogor and sentenced him to six years imprisonment with hard labour.
The convit was taken to Agbor Prison where he will be serving the six years Jail term with hard labour as the court also ordered that he should pay back the said N2.7m to be court on installments of N100,000,00 monthly until the entire money is fully liquidated.
With the Judgement, Gilbert Chucks Ejede is to go to Jail and equally refund the N2.7 million in an installments of N100,000,00 monthly and as a convict, he cannot contest for any elective position for the next ten years.
Meanwhile, two persons were on Thursday sentenced to two months Jail term each by sanitation mobile court for engaging in indiscriminate refuse dumps in Asaba.
The magistrate of the mobile court, Faith Kekejeh Kalu in her Judgement, said that ignorance of the law was not an excuse , insisting that a clean Delta was achiveable, as the convict include: Miss Mosurautu Omotosho and the wheelbarrow pusher she engaged to pick up waste from her residence,zubaru Abubakar who was caught dumping the waste on the road.
Magistrate Kalu however slammed a fine of N35,000 on the first defendant and N25,000 on the second accused, the Wheelbarrow puser in accordance with the waste management Board law as cost of evacuation or face two months imprisonment each, and the first accused was able to pay the fine while the wheelbarrow pusher was unable to pay the fine and thereafter taken to Ogwashi Uku prison for two months Jail term.
