Christians across Kwale Communities in Delta state on Sunday renewed calls for the intervention of security agents in the frequent arson of church buildings by unknown persons.
Their concern had been no fewer than six churches razed in the recent times by unknown persons and no arrest made by the security agents in the state. But Reverend Emmanuel Oyemike who spoke to Journalists in Asaba said that the situation was becoming too unbecoming, alleging that the security agents were doing nothing to help curb the increasing situation not only in Delta state, but the entire country Nigeria.
He said” we are calling on the police authorities and other relevant agencies to institute process to address the incident which is urgly and disturbing, burning down of churches has become a common event in kwale and its environs as over six churches have been razed, who knows the next church to be set ablaze or the next action of war against the churches by these unknown persons, militants or bandits”
While describing the act as devilish, Rev Oyemike also called on the state government to give requisite attention to the menace and address it as soon as possible, warning that unless urgent decisions are taken, the situation might spell more dooms for Christians in the areas.
