Benue State governor Samuel Ortom has ruled out imposition of candidates in the soon to be conducted local government election in Benue State.
The governor who made this known while addressing stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party at a meeting in makurdi yesterday said quality representatives can only be gotten when the electorates are allowed to decide for themselves.
Also he said the choice of candidature for the election will be based on zoning. He therefore warned all intending aspirants to comply with the directives for failure to recognize it will attract disqualification.
On his part, the State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Sir John Ngbede announced that a one week grace has been added for the picking of expression forms to enable more aspirants to participate in the local government election which is billed for 30th November 2019
