A head of the guber election in Kogi state, the Kogi Youth Enlightenment Initiative (KYEI) an NGO says it will hold a road walk to sensitise youths against electoral violence in Lokoja on August 17,2019.
In a statement by a member of the board of trustees Saint Reuben Okala the NGO said that there was need for youths to go about campaigns for candidates of their choice without calumny in the November 16 governorship elections in Kogi.
The statement said that KYEI is an organisation focused on uniting the youths for development and sensitising particularly youths of Kogi state on their Civic responsibilities by creating awareness and educating them to shun thuggery, electoral violence ,voter apathy and to unveil the 2 projects at hand namely the Kogi Rebirth and Kogi Voters Alliance aimed at building a new Kogi state and to encourage voters alliance irrespective of party affiliations.
It said that peaceful coexistence among among youths in the state is fundamental to the growth of democracy.
The NGO stressed the need for youths to shun pre and post election violence as it would always affect the economy negatively, creating hardship and pain.
“We shall be organising road walks in Lokoja and other sensitisation programs to ensure electorates vote peaceful in the forthcoming governorship elections slated for Nov. 16,” it stated. We
