ASUSS at a Sensitize meeting of its members in zone 6, Comprising Ughelli North and South, Udu, Patani, Bomadi and Burutu local government areas, held on Wednesday in Asaba, ASUSS vowed to employ all legitimate means to Stop the leadership of NUT from going ahead with the deductions.

Recall that the state Chapter of the NUT had through recent Publication in one of the dailies, Proposed to increase the amount of being Paid as Subscription/ Contribution under the Delta State Social Savings Investment Scheme (DSTSSIS) from N2,000 to N5,000 monthly Per Teacher in line with the Current economic realities.

But speaking during the meeting, the state Chairman of ASUSS, Comrade Kenneth Okoh faulted the move of the NUT , saying that it was informed by greed and attempt to milk the Teachers dry from their hard earned money.

“We will resist any attempt by NUT Over the Proposed N5,000 deduction, the Proposal is dead on arrival, we are here today to address our rights that is about being ripped by the NUT, and on the 16th July,2019, the NUT said it has held a Conclusive Congress of the DSTSSIS where it Claimed tutors have agreed to increase their Monthly deductions from N2,000 to N5,000 , I want to let you first of all know that the same Scheme that wants to increase the deductions has no Penny in it, the Scheme is bankrupt and those who have retired years ago are yet to be Paid because they said no money and they are Planning to increase the deductions”,Okoh said

He said that all tutors in the state are adults as they Can’t be dragged into a Scheme that will increase their Pains, especially with the Current Poor economic in the Country, adding”Savings is Something Voluntary, the weight of each one’s responsibilities differ, It’s the tutors that should be the ones to Say whether they want to increase their Savings or not and there are Teachers whose Monthly Salary is less than N5000 and you want to increase it to N5000 where will Such get the money to Pay”

‘We have about 11,711 Secondary School tutors in the state who Currently pay N2,000Monthly which amounts to Over N22Milllion monthly, and we have less 40retirees every month that are Still being Owed under the this Scheme for years and they say we should increase our Savings”, Okoh said
