He said the time for politics was over, adding that nobody can take credit for his emergence as governor but Allah.

He urged the elders to join hands with the Governor to change the narratives of the state positively and end every form of violence in the state.

According to him, “Nobody can take credit for your emergence as governor of Zamfara State but it is only Allah that brought you to power, using the Supreme Court as a vehicle.’’

Yerima, however, called on the people of the state to support him, adding that anyone who does not accept this verdict is not a true believer.

‘’There is an urgent need for everybody in Zamafara State to support the governor-elect. Anybody who does not accept this verdict is not a true believer,’’ he said.

He averred that it is now time for serious governance that will bring about meaningful development to the people of the state.

Yerima also urged the governor embark on building necessary structures of governance by enacting appropriate laws that enhance justice, equality and peace which will, in turn, lead to good governance.

He also congratulated him on his new leadership position.

In his response, Matawalle said he was glad to receive the former governor whom he described as a perfect gentleman and one of the rare gifts of Allah to the state.

Matawalle appealed to the former governor to use his network to convene meeting with Zamfara Elders with the intention of finding lasting solution to the current challenges facing the state.

“You’re one of the most respected elders in Zamfara State, therefore, it is necessary for us to tap from your pool of wisdom to solve the problems facing the state and to unite all factions in the state as a family,” he said.

He said that he was glad that he served as a commissioner under the former governor, adding that it was an experience that prepared him for governance.
