CSOs Express Dismay Over Reports Of Deaths



The Nigerian Situation Room expressed dismay over series of reports of incidences of death across the country.

This was disclosed today at a media briefing in Abuja.

The convener of the situation room, Mr Clement Nwankwo, who outline the challenges ranging from smart card readers failure,incidences of death in some States, late arrival of sensitive materials among others.

The Situation Room said, About 16 death has been recorded across 8 states. The States affected include, Bayelsa, Rivers, Yobe,Kogi,Ebonyi,Lagos and Zanfara States.

While States where incidences of vote buying were recorded includes, Edo,Kwara,Kano and Katsina States.

Situation Room, noted that some polling units had one police officer while in others, in addition to the prescribed three polling unit had security personnel totalling up to 10.

Situation Room therefore called on INEC and security agencies to nip this practice in the bud before it undermines the sanctity of the votes.

The group also call on INEC to do everything possible to ensure that voters are not disenfranchised and quickly address the outstanding logistic challenge.

The group called on voters to continue to be law abiding and to reports through appreciate channels.
