Elections: Association calls on youth to be prudent in their dealings

The President of Nigerian Youths Decide (NYD) Mr. Uchechukwu Ekpere Paul has called on youths to be prudent in their dealings so that they attain their full potentials in life.

Ekpere made the call in a communiqué issued at the end of the NYD stakeholders round table meeting with other seasoned youth leaders across the thirty six states including FCT, on Wednesday in Abuja.

The meeting was held on Feb. 9, at the NAF Conference Centre with various youth stakeholders in attendance from the 36 states of the federation.

He, however, explained that the youth is a spark, which needs no ignition, adding that the youth had a role in nation building.

He said that the 2019 Presidential Debate organised by the NYD was a huge success and stated that this was a step in the right direction.

In his speech, the Executive Director Admin and Training Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Dr. Steve Egbo stated that the Nigerian youths should be in the position to decide the president of Nigeria.

Egbo encouraged the youths on the need to be focused on what they want and work in harmony to achieve their aim in the upcoming elections.

Also, Mr Odion Okpebholo, the National Chairman, Grassroot Development Party (GRDP) adviced the Nigerian youth to be focused on the person who has their interest at heart.

Okpebholo encouraged the Nigerian youths on the need to come out in mass and vote for the right person they want.

He further to adviced the youths on the need to abstain from political thuggery and manipulations before, during or after elections.

Bishop Juanita Wendu, founder of Life Savers Ambassadors said that the youths should have one mind and do away with betrayal by forming a force towards achieving a new Nigeria.

Pastor Nyeneime Andy, National President, Youth Wing, Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) said there was the need to register a political party that would solely be for the youths.

According to Andy, over the decades, betrayal has been noted as an endemic problem, which has eaten deep into the fabrics of the Nigerian youths.

“We must curtail it as we are now determined to take the lead in moving our nation to her pride of place.

“We should begin to imbibe the selfless mindset that will make it easy for one to grant another youth an opportunity to move higher where and whenever the privilege shows up.’’

He, however, reiterated the importance of the youths relating among themselves without much protocols, adding that this was the time the Nigerian youths should eschew selfishness.

Mr. Amin Muhammed, YOWICAN said that the presidential candidates who featured in the presidential debate organised by the NYD should be massively voted for by the youths.

However, Mr. preye Brown, Vice President, Word of Youth Assemblies urged the youths to maintain focus on the purpose of the session, being the 2019 general elections and the future.

Brown further urged that any presidential candidate that would give a platform should be considered.

Alhaji Sadiq Abubakar, a member of NYD advised on the need to keep sentiments aside and embrace peace and credibility.

Abubakar also stated that time had come for every Nigerian to keep religion and money aside for the betterment of the nation.

The Workshop was organised by the Nigerian youths Decide (NYD), Diamond Youths Transformation Initiative (DYTI), Christian Association of Nigeria Youth Wing (YOWICAN), Life Savers Ambassadors,

Nigerians in Diaspora, Islamic Association of Nigeria, Juma’atu Nasiru Islam (JNI), Muslim students Association among others.

The debate was designed to champion the direction of youths and their roles in the forth-coming elections and to champion the direction of youths in leadership and their roles in the forthcoming elections.

In conclusion, the youths agreed that in three days time, a deal would be signed and documented that any Candidate who gives 50 per cent opportunity to the youth should be voted for during elections.

“We shall vote those who will give us access to presidential Seat in 2023.’’

COMMUNIQUE OF THE NIGERIAN YOUTHS DECIDE STAKEHOLDERS ROUND TABLE MEETING WITH OTHER SEASONED YOUTH LEADERS FROM ACROSS THE THIRTY SIX STATES OF THE COUNTRY INCLUDING FCT, WHICH
HELD ON FEBRUARY 9, 2019 AT THE NAF CENTER ABUJA.

PREAMBLE
The Workshop was organized by the Nigerian youths Decide(NYD), Diamond Youths Transformation Innitiative( DYTI)/Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) Youth Wing, Life Savers Ambassadors,Nigerians in Diaspora,Islamic Association of Nigeria/Juma’atu Nasiru Islam(JNI),Muslim students Association ,Just to mention but a few.

It was designed to champion the direction of youths and their roles in the forth coming elections.

Several dignitaries were in Attendance.
It was attended by various Youth Stakeholders from the 36 States of the federation, including our key Note Speaker,
Dr Steve Egbo, Executive Director, Admin and Training NTA,
Alistair Soyede(CEO BEN TV, UK), Bishop Juanita Wendu(founder of Life Savers Ambassadors),
Ambassador Odion Cedrack Okpebholo National chairman (GRDP), and others

Objective:
To champion the direction of youths in the leadership of our nation including their roles in the forthcoming elections

In his opening remarks, the President of NIGERIAN YOUTHS DECIDE(NYD) Ambassador Uchechukwu Ekpere Paul explained broadly on the mission and vision of the the organization.
He stated that the youth is that spark which needs no ignition. He went further to state that the youth has a role in nation building. He urged the youths to be prudent in their dealings to see that they attain their full potentials in life. He reminded them on the huge success of NYD during the 2019 Presidential Debate and stated that the debate was a step in the right direction.

In the same vein, Mr. Amin Ismay Muhammed from the youth wing Trust opined that the presidential candidates who featured in the recently held presidential debate organized by the Nigerian Youths Decide should be massively voted for by the youths.

Apostle Andy, National President Youth wing of Christian Association of Nigeria spoke strongly on the need for us to register a political party that is solely for the youths. He as well pointed out that over the decades, betrayal has been noted as an endemic problem which has eaten deep into the fabrics of the Nigerian youths, and passionately advised that we must curtail it as we are now determined to take the lead in moving our nation to her pride of place.
