Defection: Another lawmaker dumps PDP for APC

The lawmaker representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency of Benue State, Dickson Terkighir, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The lawmaker made his decision known in a letter addressed to the house and was read by the Deputy Speaker, Rep. Yussuf Lassun, APC-Odiniya, at the plenary on Tuesday.

Members of the APC on the floor of the house were delighted at the development, screaming party slogans and throwing eight fingers in the air.

The lawmaker said, in his letter, that politics was local and that he had consulted with his constituents before the decision was reached.

Tarkighir contested for the House of Reps ticket in the just-concluded Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primaries.

He lost with 80 votes to Bem Mzondu, who scored 102 votes.
