Officials of Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles, have been issued Wednesday, January 23 to submit medical details of all the players being for the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger Republic.
Although coach, Paul Aigbogun shifted the timing of his official list for the competition from this week till next, even as report that he now has up till Wednesday to announce the names of the players that will fit into the competition’s medical data.
This is sequel to information from Confederation of African Football (CAF), which stated that the Niger 2019 Pre-Competition Medical Assessment (PCMA) has been launched for all the expected players.
The continental soccer body explained that PCMA was integrated into CAF Content Management System (CMS) since the 2014 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in South Africa.
The statement read in part: “The PCMA has a complete medical check-up of each player.
“To determine whether he is medically fit to participate or otherwise in the final tournament scheduled for 2-17 February 2019 in the Nigerien cities of Maradi and Niamey.
“Medical Officers of the eight participating teams will be expected to submit the details of their selected players for the tournament once the system goes live on 23 January.
“The PCMA also provides an opportunity to medical officers to have access to information and records regarding injuries incurred during the CAF competitions.
“It also serves as base for statistics of lesions and to work towards prevention among others.”
