The People’s Democratic Party in Ondo State has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of engaging members of the  All Progressives Congress as ad hoc staff for the November 26 governorship election in the state.

The PDP, in  a statement issued on Monday by its Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Banji Okunomo, expressed its worry over the alleged compromising attitude of the electoral body to collaborate with APC to rig the forthcoming election.

Okunomo said  the party would put up a petition against the electoral  commission regarding the allegation.
The statement said, ” It has been discovered that the INEC has concluded plans to repeat the rigging strategy it employed in connivance with the APC during the last presidential election in the state.
“The INEC has been discovered to have enlisted APC card carrying members as  personnel in the scheduled election. The same thing was done in the last presidential election where the supposed INEC staff  were the ones dictating to voters where they should thumb print on the ballot paper.
“It is sad that the electoral body could be conniving with the APC to  rig election and endanger our  democracy which  did not come without some people losing their lives.”
However, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Segun Agbaje, denied the allegation saying there was no recruitment of any party man for the forthcoming poll.
He said, ” It is not true, no party man was recruited as ad hoc staff by the commission.”
