Reigning Miss Indigenous Culture of Nigeria, Queen Lucy Ugochukwu, has recently made her first pet Charity Project outing, donating materials such as foods, clothes and shoes to beggars on the bridges of Nyanya Abuja and Maraba Nassarawa State.

The 19 year old beauty queen who represented Imo state during the beauty contest stated that the initiative was a flagship of her pet project, geared towards giving out to the less privileged and promoting the rich content of Nigeria’s cultural heritage to the world.

She added that her office stands to initiate positive programmes and projects that will boost Nigeria’s national heritage, such as fight against child trafficking, fight against indecency amongst youths and promoting the language and cultural values of Nigeria.

“It’s time we begin to appreciate and preserve what is ours. It is time we start looking inwards and harnessing our indigenous cultural ethics and values ranging from our language, foods, crafts, flamboyant colourful fabrics and costumes to show strength and unity in our diversity, also to generate revenue to Nigeria.

“I am grateful to God for giving me and my team the privilege to reach out directly to the less privileged on streets with little or no means to good life. Also to my parents and friends for their immense support,” she affirmed.

She therefore called on Nigerians at home and in diaspora to always embrace, promote, preserve and showcase our cultural heritage.
