Bola Ahmed Tinubu by now should be aware he is no longer relevant as he once was in the scheme of things as far the All Progressives Congress, (APC) as far party politics goes.
As far as I am concerned, the summary of the new assignment given to the so called National Leader of APC by President Muhammadu Buhari, is for him to go and do his worst.
For a man; a so-called party leader that is said to have contributed immensely to the formation of APC and its sustenance; and for whom it is said sold the soul of his people in the South West of Nigeria based on a faulty and egocentric political calculations, it is indeed sad that all he has now been reduced to is a mere errand boy indirectly being told to go do his worst.
To watchers of the Nigerian political space, particularly in the last couple of years, there is no doubt that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in a secret, silent war with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian president that has completely ignored him and relegated him to the background.
By appointing Tinubu to head the so-called APC’s reconciliation committee, Tinubu is being told to his face to go to hell because his relevance to the party and to the survival of the administration is no longer as important as it was before the 2015 general elections.
This sad reality is even more apparent when consideration is given to the fact that this same Tinubu has been and remains in open conflicts, not only with the leadership of the APC headed by Chief John Oyegun, but is also at war with the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and other national leaders in both houses of the national assembly.
At the zonal level in the South West, I am aware that Tinubu is at war with Mr. Babatunde Fashola, the triple portfolios minister and whom Tinubu made the governor of Lagos state between 2007 and 2015. It is on public records that Tinubu never wanted Fashola anywhere near Buhari, not to mention becoming a minister with triple portfolios of power, works and housing.
The same is the case with Mr. Kayode Fayemi, the Minister of Mines and Sold Minerals, who have at various times told the world that he is not beholden to Tinubu in any way.
The relegation potentially final humiliation of Tinubu through this new assignment is further deepened through the fact that Tinubu is at war with virtually all the governors in the south west zone, save Rauf Aregbesola, the Governor of Osun State, who has successfully borrowed and ran the state down into unrecoverable debt.
Pray, how in Gods good name do you expect Tinubu to reconcile the party when the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has told all who cares to listen that he is the leader of the party in the south west zone? Who will reconcile whom between Tinubu and Muiz Banire, the National Legal Adviser of the party who has told Tinubu severally to take a Lagoon dive.
From this death assignment that has been placed on the Jagaban’s dwindling political shoulders, it has become obvious that those advising President Muhammadu Buhari are smarter and cleverer than is accorded them.
The move is indeed a smart move to send Tinubu into political oblivion once and for all, and create a new breed of leaders in the south west which could be led by either Amosun or the crafty man from Oyo who holds the office of the minister for communications.
