France’s First Sex Doll Brothel Opens For Business In Paris

Published

on

For those who’ve dreamed of spending time with a sex doll in Paris, France’s first love poupee brothel has made those dreams a reality.

Meet Lily, Sofia, and Kim, a few of the brothel’s working silicone girls, known as “Xdolls.” For around $11o, you can book an hour with the doll of your choice through the website. A two-hour solo visit will run you around $185, and if you’d like to share the experience as a couple, it’ll run you around $150 for one hour.

Each doll has her own profile for online perusal: Lily is “Fine à la poitrine généreuse” (or, per Google Translate, because my high school French is rusty, “Thin with generous bosom”); Sofia bills herself, in first-person copy, as: “I am the most athletic and strongest of the Xdolls”; and Kim is green-eyed and has a “form” that is “très..très.. généreuses.”

If you’re thinking of dropping by to check out the brothel, think again. With no address given for its location in the 14th arrondissement, you must reserve a date in advance. Enhancements to the experience are offered at additional cost, including a virtual reality headset for around $25.

The FAQ section discloses that the brothel features “private relaxation areas, equipped with a TV screen and an audio headset (or VR), to make your appointment with the doll of your choice comfortable”; after booking, the customer will receive a confirmation email that must be presented at the brothel at the disclosed address and “Our receptionist will guide you to your relaxation area or your sexdoll will wait for you in the desired configuration”; and the deposit of around $125 is “our guarantee in case of concern” because the dolls are “robust” but their “skin” is “fragile.”

In addition, the dolls are “cleaned and disinfected with specific products before and after each use.”

This isn’t the world’s first and only sex doll brothel. Others have opened in Gateshead, England; Dortmund, Germany; and Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Due to the relative newness of the sex doll brothel, it’s not yet clear how profitable such businesses will be. The sex-doll strategy eliminates the human sex worker, presents a business model that can scale with relative ease, and may be less likely to draw the ire of those who frown on sex businesses. At the same time, the fact that the dolls are made of silicone means they cannot move autonomously, customers may feel less gratified by an experience with what amounts to an inanimate object, and the initial investment cost of the dolls requires a fair amount of available cash in products that will wear with use.

While the prospect of replacing human sex workers with inhuman replacements may seem outrageous now, this shift into an increasingly high-tech approach to sex may well be part of an ongoing trend that will only increase as time moves forward. With technology as a conduit, fantasies once restricted to the imagination can become a reality. And in a world where consent has become an increasingly fraught issue in sex, non-human partners may provide individuals with an alternative: a partner that doesn’t judge your desires, has no desires of her own, and will never say no, unless, of course, you say so.
