Nigeria senior national team’s dedicated fans have expressed disappointment over the lack of live streaming for Eagles friendly against Senegal, calling on the Nigeria Football Federation to make sure the team’s next match against Burkina Faso will be aired on television.
Speaking to Fever Pitch, An Abuja based fan Akin Abimbola said he checked all television channels but was left disappointed after he couldn’t catch the Nigeria/Senegal friendly on TV.
“It’s unimaginable that such a big game wasn’t aired on any of the television channels, can you imagine England playing Germany even if it’s the U17, you can still get it on TV, the NFF should really do something about that because not all fans can travel to England to watch their favourite football team.” He said.
While Hassan Yunusa said the Glass House owe it as a duty to Nigerians to make sure they can watch the team from anywhere instead of signing unfavourable deals that will leave the country’s football lovers in the dark.
The NFF on its part dissociated itself from the failure of a plan to streamed live the Senegal friendly match to interested Nigerians.
NFF’s Director of Media and Communications, Ademola Olajire explained that the task of having the game put up on livestream, as well as other details like TV production and stadium readiness, was entirely that of the organizers Eurodata Sport.
“The livestreaming of the match had nothing to do with the NFF. Our clear responsibility was to present a team, by the name Super Eagles of Nigeria, while other tasks were squarely on the plate of the Match Agent. Our Official FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport had an agreement with some firm in Nigeria to livestream the match, through receiving signals from the production team at the stadium, but a technical hitch that arose late in the day conspired to make that impossible.”
