The wife of the President Mrs Aisha Buhari, yesterday hosted the wife of the Gambian President Mrs Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow, who was in Nigeria for a Familiarisation visit to the Gambian Students currently studying in Nigeria.
Madamme Bah-Barrow`s visit was a part of her efforts to foster unity and friendship for the benefit of women and children of Nigeria and the Gambia, especially in the areas of improving maternal and child health.
Mrs Bah-Barrow in company of Mrs Aisha Buahri also visited Paediatric and Maternal wards of the Maitama District Hospital where the duo interacted with the patients and presented a gift items to the patients.
She informed the gathering that her visit was to encourage the Gambian Students who are currently studying in Rochas Foundation School, Owerri in Imo State of Nigeria to be of good behaviour and good Ambassadors of the Gambia while in Nigeria.
The visit which coincided with the birthday of the first lady of the Gambia was greeted with a low key celebration organised in her honour by Mrs Buhari.
However, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Suleiman Ahmed, who spoke on behalf of the management of the Hospital, expressed their gratitude to Mrs Buhari for bringing her counterpart from the Gambia to visit the patients.
Ahmed said that, beyond drugs, patients require such visits.
The CMD maintained that the patients consider such visits as they considered works of mercy, which contribute to the quick recovery of patients.
They were accompanied to the Hospital by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration, Dr Hajo Sani, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Social Media Mrs Lorretta Ononche, Personal Physician to Mrs Buhari Dr Mohammed Kamal and other Associates of Mrs Aisha Buhari
